I've contacted a few people about Mainsheet articles , emailed fleet contacts, and posted stickies, but we have nothing but the flag page and John's Tech section for the next Mainsheet. We've been well represented for the past year, and I hate to see this happen. I thought I would do a destination article on Port Clinton if I were in this situation, but they just published one for another size Cat. I may try to put a Pensacola article together, but I have some professional issues really crunching my time right now and don't know if I can get it done. As I have asked before, anyone who lives in a "destination" location could write a local color article with a couple of photos and local sailing and activities knowledge. If you just want to write something up and have me polish it, that would be great and demand less of the time I don't have right now. Officer messages and anything that anyone would like to contribute need to be in my inbox as soon as possible, my deadline is next week.

Dave, I can probably knock something together for you. Are you looking for a cruising style article? Does it need to be a well known destination, or simply a place we like to go? Are you looking for first person, or third? Travelogue or narrative? If I use photos taken by a professional, can credit be provided for her, like her web site? How many words? How many pictures?
First person is usually best, and a place that you like will be interesting to others and easier to write. Destinations are usually a blend of narrative and travelog. Your experience makes it interesting and local information on sights, activities, food and drink plus sailing info and facilities make it useful. Short articles a a couple hundred words and 1 or 2 photos. I'm sure we could put a byline in a caption, but probably not much else and a signed released would probably be necessary if any recognition is expected. My mailbox is open if anyone else wants to submit for this or future issues.

John, I sent you two emails. I'm not sure what the problem is, but I sent an alt. address in the second one. If they don't come through, it is mutsy5041 is at gmail.com

That could easily be a future feature article in August. My deadline is June 15 and I need a little prep time, so it won't help with the next issue. Email me and we'll discuss how to optimize you article planning.
