This is the 3rd time I've started this post. Its totally selfish.

I need a person who knows our boats to come and lend a hand on the upcoming overnight race on our lake.

If I am going to hold on to 1st place in the white sail fleet, I have to have a top 3 finish in my division in the overnight race. I have 2 excellent crew lined up for this race, but we usually race with a crew of 3 (white sail) and since this race can be longish, I need a 4th so that people can be spelled off when they get tired.

I need the 4th person to totally have our boats dialed in and be able to replace me when I get sleepy. I need another C-25 owner.

If you have been waiting your whole life to see Canada, this is your chance. We are a few hours from Niagara falls, an hour from Toronto, and just south of the wilderness of the northern shield. All I ask is that on the night of August 8-9 you come sail with me.

Your wife and my wife can chat about things like whether Gerwerstaminer is really better than Niagara Mist, if Brad Pitt's butt is getting bigger, and why Girl Scouts are better than Boy Scouts. You and I can go and kick ass on the lake.

For accommodations, we have a spare bed (futon) downstairs. Or you can stay on the boat. I would offer you the master bedroom, but then my wife would kick my butt and neither of us could go sailing.

I know money is tight right now, but remember, $1US is worth $1.15CDN, so you can reduce at least some of your costs. Also we have meals like "backbacon on a bun", "Poutine", and "Tim Horton's Coffee" all distinctly different from anything you've had before. Oh, and our Maple syrup is fresher. Maybe.

I'll take you shopping at Canadian Tire, and Princess Auto, Zellers, and The Bay and show you the best local tourist attractions.

I'm not sure what else I can offer that would entice you to take me up on this. Give me an email, and I'll slate you in...

I just remembered...

On the 12th I have to take the boat down the Trent Canal as well, I could roll that into the package if thats what it takes. 3 lockstations, a trip on the marine railway, and ending the passage in Georgian Bay at a Historic Naval Yard. http://www.discoveryharbour.on.ca/english/index.html

I'll even buy you an ice cream when we get there.

Wow, that Daytona price is great. But my problem is my business. It's a self storage facility and there's only me to run it. Even 3 days are out of the question.

I love the title of this thread. Reminds me of Hemingway's, "A Clean Well-lighted Place." Only better.
I'd love to, but alas, I'm going south that week. Can't go north.

I wish I could go too, but.... Here's a tip for overnights that seems to work well with short crew. 6 to midnight. midnight to 6. and then a normal watch schedule. The third person, maybe you - gets the whole night off except for tacking and sail changes, etc... Everyone stays rested and there are two people available on deck all of the time.
