I don't have an extra but FYI, the Simrad cantilever mount also works for the ST1000.

The reason I mentioned the Simrad was becasue I found one on eBay for $15 and decided to see if it would work. It did and I saved $60.

If your trying to save some money you could make your own. A couple of galvanized pipe fittings would work. Fill one end of the pipe with epoxy resin and drill the appropriate size hole for the autopilot's pin.

I actually did that first and it does work. I didn't fill mine with epoxy, I just drilled a hole through both sides of the pipe.

I would be a bit hesitant to put anything but aluminum or stainless steel on my boat- it will rust!

OK the pipe fitting sounds great
I have found an Aluminum one but what size did you go with 1/2 or 3/4 pipe?

If you intend to fill the pipe with epoxy, use the 3/4 and only drill through the top side of the pipe. Make sure you can unscrew it from the side of the seat to get it out of the way when not using and be sure to use a backing plate. The fiberglass is not all that thick where it needs to mount. And don't forget to post pictures of the completed project!!!

Galvanized Steel is used because of its resistance to rust. While I am sure it can rust, so can stainless steel.

A lot of stress on this part. If the 3/4" pipe is thicker I would go with that. The "galvanized" steel will be much stronger in the long run.
