As it is important to let everyone know about bad service, It is just as equally important to let everyone know about GOOD Customer Service . We bought a Nicro Solar Vent for "Leprechaun" and had problems with the battery charging over the last 2 years and had replaced them ETC. I called Nicro (Marinco) and spoke with Tech Support. They advised to send it back and they would check it out, turn around time would be less than two days. I sent it back to California, and in less than ten business days, I had a replacement at my door. The Tech Rep did not give me a hard time and just went through questions trying to resolve my issue as would be expected. We are very pleased with the product.

"The clink of an anchor - chain, the 'Yo-Ho!' of a well time crew, the flapping of huge sails - I love all these sounds."
We had the same positive experience with Nicro. Our original unit failed to charge after a year of use and they replaced it no questions asked. The new unit has been going about two years now just fine.

I'll pick up a NiMH at Radio Shack if that changes. It's great not waking up to dew all over the inside of the cabin.
Mine ran for about 2-3 years and then I noticed it only running when the sun was out, so I changed the battery with a rechargeable from RadioShack. Believe it was a NiCad.
I got the solar vent and the original battery went bad, than got a new one from Nicro. I than replaced that one this spring with a battery from Batteries Plus. When that one died I went to West Marine and spent $26.00 on their battery! on the premise that it would be the original. When That one died, I took it back and sent the vent back to Nicro/Marinco. I was also told that the ones at Radio Shack are just as good,Only Cheaper! The battery is a nicad and the vent does a great job.The batteries have to be re-chargable as the plate charges them from the sun.
