I have been unable to locate the actual stamped hull no. on my 1982 TR sail no. 3266. There is a plate with the 3266 no. I do have the hull no. on my state registration card. Suggestions to where the hull no. is located on the boat.
We had such a hard time reading ours at purchase that the previous owner called Catalina and they gave him, the original owner, the hull number over the phone. After we knew the number we were able to see the numbers. You might have to try "Grave Etching" it with a pencil to read it.
ditto on the previous replies. In addition, it should start with CTY, for Catalina Yachts, followed by a K,for the C-25 model, then 3266, your hull number. The remainder of the HIN will tell you when it was built.
Thanks for the help all. Talked to Kent Nelson at Catalina and he confirmed my hin. no. He said that it is not unusual that older boat's hin no.are hard to fine. They fade out because of cleaning, gel coat work, painting, etc.
I am surprised of that on an '82. My 77, yes but I thought they had it together better by 82. I took a picture of my HID to the Coast Guard and showed it to him. He said if they can read it you'll be OK, if not, he said, "It might be a long night." I... um ... enhanced my HID with a dremmel so you can see it at 50'.
