I can't remember how to insert a photo into your signature, I thought it was just <b>[.img] your photo [./img]</b> (of course without the periods (it thinks it's a pic if they aren't there) but.............. Could somebody help me out please? And then maybe we can unlock the How to Post Photos to the Forum thread long enough to post the "how to" for next time Thanks!

Dunno if that helps or not. You can also make your photo a link, which isn't too hard either.
Other forums I belong to have the code tags which will let you escape the tags so someone can cut & paste directly from your post if they want to. I've tried here, they just make the text disappear.

As long as you have a valid image location URL that should work fine.
I'm using Picasa for my host. I also have an account with Shutterfly but it seems to me they minimize your pics after a while. Maybe Picasa is the problem. And David, I couldn't even get the preview to work using ( instead of [.
I just uploaded some small pics to Shutterfly and it blows them up, pixilating the photo and tells me the resolution is to low. David, how did you upload your small pic?
It used to be that you just captured the URL for Shutterfly's thumbnail of your picture, and that'd give you the same size image. That's what's in my signature, and I set it up so you can click on either and see a larger version (also from Shutterfly). Now it appears they don't let you capture the thumbnail URL.
Dave, I could see your pic in IE 8 (until you removed it), but not in Google Chrome. (...not the first time Chrome has let me down.)
Dave, I actually don't recall. In Shutterfly, you used to be able to manipulate the numerical sequence of the file to change it's size, but I don't remember how to do that either. I plan to move to Picasa since that's where Rita has all of our photos archived anyway, I just haven't yet.
I may have also shrunk a photo purposely for it using MSPaint. I can explain how if you're interested.
David, I use paint shop pro to edit photos and am pretty good at it but thanks, and DaveB (what is this the Dave Thread?)I was seeing it the other day for 24 hours or so on IE8 but then the dreaded red x appeared. Maybe it's some security thing with my pc ................. nah, couldn't be .............. I guess I'll keep at it and figure it out eventually. In the mean time I'm open to any suggestions, thanks guys.
Dave, I went and grabbed your source for your photo, and if I simply paste it into the IMG tags, it works fine (in Firefox, haven't tested in IE or Chrome). However, if I right click on your photo icon and tell it to reload or view, nothing happens. You might try starting from scratch, or cut & pasting it into a text editor to remove any formatting that may have snuck in somehow. I did that and here's the result:
Edit: I went to do some cutting and pasting so I could recreate your entire sig to see if I could get it to work. When I opened up a new browser tab (again in Firefox) to be able to switch back & forth between this post and a view of your sig, lo & behold, your sig now works. Maybe it was simply that I had a cached version of your photo, dunno. However, if that's true, it kind of sucks for you since if your cached photo is on everyone's computer, they'll never see it until they do a reload. Maybe make a copy of the photo with a different name on your server? That way the cached one becomes irrelevant because the "new" photo will automatically be displayed instead of the cached one, which no longer has a reference.
David- I'm not sure what was going on. I've changed photos a couple of times so that should cause anyone's browser to reload, but since I dumped all of my stored internet goodies yesterday I've been seeing it on FF and IE. I think I'm good now. Thanks for the help guys! (now watch it go away tomorrow)
Isn't it crazy? It's on the Picasa Web album site. I post a lot of pics from there with no problems, I don't understand why this should be happening in the signature.
So after I couldn't see my pic and posted this morning I checked back after a while and saw my pic again. I'm guessing Paul went in and re-did the thing in my profile. Is that true Paul? Or is it another mystery?
I did a search and came up with some [url="http://forum.fourthirdsphoto.com/showthread.php?t=50620"]interesting stuff[/url]. It seems that Picasa has had some issues with photo linking for a while. So I'll use a different photo hosting site.
<blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"> TA-DAHHHH! <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"> I know!! It was killing me!
Something else interesting. While photobucket is great and free and all that, it's slower because of the commercial ads and the upload system. In my searches I came across [url="http://waveless.smugmug.com/Vacation/Laborday09-Cruise/9730462_AWU6D#658591693_miTPN"]Smugmug.com[/url]. It costs $40 a year (.11 per day) but as you can see is a nice looking site and has a great uploader where you can upload a folder of 100 pics at once if you want. I'm sure there's other nice pic hosting sites out there but I may just spring for this one once the trial period is over.
