We pulled the Nauti Duck out yesterday (along with sister ship Mariposa). We were in for a full six months this year which set a record for us. I recorded on a calendar each time we sailed. We went out 32 times during the season. Half of those were during June and July.

It was a great year with higher winds then usual so we got better at reefing and other techniques to maintain good sail trim. We didn't do any major boat projects this year, concentrating instead on improving our sailing abilities.

Like last year I have bittersweet feelings about the end of season. Of course we will miss sailing but we also love the activities that come next such as Oregon football/basketball, holidays and colder weather sports - skiing and snowboarding. I'm sure that by next April we'll be ready to launch again for another season.

This forum will be my sailing "fix" until then.

We cannot direct the winds but we can adjust our sails.

I would love to see pics of that!

PS
I just saw the news last night about a story in Oregon and a sporting event and thought of you but can't seem to remember what it was.

Many things conspired to limit our sailing this year - we only got to Pearl 6 times. We did stay 3 - 5 days each time we went, but frequently the weather didn't cooperate or we had shoreside commitments. I'm glad that my next season starts January 16.
