My apologies if this posting is outside of this Forum - I hope it is not... Go here to see one of the latest advances in marine technology, the USS Independence.
My father in law designed high frequency measurement systems for the USN. This looks alot like the 1/2 scale concept trimaran that he gave me a tour of many years ago. It was some sort of partnership between us and Great Britain. He built a hull stress measurement system and once installed, they took the ship into the North Sea and ran it as fast as they could into the biggest waves they could find. Must have been a hell of a ride because in the computer room where my father in law installed his equipment, there was an office chair that was not properly secured. It looked like someone took an axe and just started swinging in there. Fortunately, most of the equipment was housed in racks with reasonably heavy metal doors.
Could 60kts be true? I don't know, but it would not surprise me.
I'm with you Renzo. Imagine the chicks we could pick up with that boat. We could stop in several european cities in the same day! Wanna go halves?
