I need a jib furler for my 95 250 WB. I'm tired of having to get the jib down while single handing. That's a long run from the back of the boat when you have a stiff breeze.
Can I please get some comments as to where best to look? I'm looking for CHEAP. Used is just fine. If anyone has one to sell, that will be great too. Thanks
Oh, any advice on what brands to buy, how not to run the lines, any advice at all will be appreciated.
John, The cheapest new furler is probably the CDI flexible furler. Lots of people on this forum use them. You will have to buy a furling foresail also which is more expensive than the furler. Not sure if you need the FF4 or can get by with an FF2 on a 250. Others will advise I am sure.
CDI FF4 and get the ball bearings option. This is a good value furler. The furler will come with instructions for mounting and leading the lines back. If you find a used one and it doesn't have directions then I'll be happy to post photos. Also, the CDI web site has the manuals in PDF form.
John, I have a fuler and love it but to change over with new sail is not cheap. Have you considered getting a auto pilot? Its extremely useful when soling. Steve A
I was actually thinking of replacing the CDI on my 1995 250 with a standard hank-on jib. I may be interested in selling the CDI if you are still interested...
I bought and installed an FF2 Years ago on my McGregor 26 years ago and as far as I know it is still working fine. I bought and installed an FF4 on my 250 WB 8 Years ago and it is still working flawlessly. I don't think you could do any better for the price. Installation instructions are excellent. I bought luff tape from Sailrite and sewed it on the old sail replacing the hanks it worked fine until I could afford new sails and still have the old ones for backup.
The above deal from samurai6 sounds like a really good way to go to save $.

Still have it. If you want, you can contact me via email (on my profile page) and we can talk further. I was thinking of buying the stuff to modify my jib, but perhaps we could work something out.
