Hi all,

I'm contemplating repairing some wear through points on the boats winter cover and was looking for an alternative to hand stitching the patch in place. A marina neighbor seems to have had the same problem and it looks as though he GLUED the patches on. I like the way he is thinking and since he is gone for the winter, and not available to offer comment here, I'm putting it to y'all. Has anyone an idea as to what glue to use in this case? It's a canvass to canvass joint and needs to be flexable. HELP, and thanks.

I don't know the name of it but sail makers use a spray glue to sieze (sp?)seams before stitching. Call one of the local/national lofts.

As the fabric is porous, wouldn't simple contact cement do the trick?

Dave, you're right I can't believe it but I ordered some anyway. I was thinking, as was Jerry, that contact cement would do, and maybe it will, but I'll try Val-A-Tear first. How could I not?

It probably is contact cement--repackaged (like a lot of "marine" products).
