I just got my mainsail back from Sailcare in Pennsylvania. It looks brand new for less than $300 including shipping. New slugs, new telltales and sewn numbers and insignia.
This is the third sail I've had cleaned by them. I'm a very happy customer.

John, How long did it take to get the sail back? I'm considering this for over the winter. Our sail's in decent shape, but I broke three of my slugs this season, and I'm guessing that the rest of them are simply hanging on for dear life, plus our logo looks really bad. I'd like to get the sail spruced up for next season.
Actually, I was bored one day a couple of weeks ago so I drove 3 hours to their facility. So, I was right there while they inspected the sail and we decided together what I wanted done. If you want your sail numbers and logo to remain, they have to be sewn on since the adhesive won't survive the cleaning process. There's a fee for that. They also charge for any repairs needed. Loose seams, etc., won't survive the cleaning process so they take a good look at them. I took the opportunity for them to replace my slugs. They'll tell you if they think it better to replace rather than restore the sail. Their basic idea is that if it costs more than half the cost of a new sail, you should probably buy a new sail. I agree.
They called me the following week telling me it was finished. I was going to drive back to pick it up but changed my mind two days ago and had it shipped back to me. I got it today.
When I sent my smaller O'Day sails a couple of years ago, I think I called them in advance, downloaded their form from their website and shipped them. When they got them, they called me with their recommendations and we went from there. I don't think I needed any repairs then so, I just payed for the cost of cleaning and shipping.
I never got the sense that they're looking to over-sell. I think they really only recommend services that are really needed. I guess you can never be sure of that but, that's my sense of things.
BTW, they offer a 15% discount for fall orders. I'm sure they're slower in the spring because that will be a busier time.
I sent mine off early this month. They said the telltales would come off in the cleaning process, and I'm haven a couple batten pockets repaired. We'll see what it looks like when I go to Florida this winter.
I haven't had it on the boat since I'm on the hard but it looks like a new sailfrom the inspection I gave it. I'm very pleased. It'll be next spring before I see it stretched on the boom. But, my old O'Day sails were in much worse condition when I sent them a few years ago, and they came back like new sails as well.
