I guess it was in December? that JohnP (Jon Peyman) emailed me telling me he'd be in Tampa in Feb and would drive over to Daytona if I felt like going for a sail. I said heck yeah and so we had a plan! Then our winter went from bad to worse here and I thought it was unlikely we'd get to go. But last week our weather took a warm turn and Saturday turned out to be a good day after all so we did get to go sailing. Got a late start so wasn't able to get out the inlet but had favorable winds and was able to sail 11 miles south and then back on the Intercoastal Waterway, had a nice day, John's a great guy, we had a good time. Here's a few pics of the day.
And of course one of Sugar!

Thanks, Dave. It was fun sailing down to the Ponce Inlet. Here's the lighthouse there.
I really enjoyed the interesting wildlife, too, like the dolphins swimming along next to the boat. This photo shows a bit of dorsal fin, I think.
Oh, and that "black duck with a white head flapping his wings in the water taking a bath" that I saw in the shallows at the side of the river, who then took off and flew up and up and eventually soared over the shore with 6 foot wingspan was not an unusual Florida duck at all. It turned out to be a bald eagle first year youngster with patchy black and gray colors under his wings. I checked in my bird book at home. Really cool!
