Looking for a small piece of teak plywood 3/8" to 1/2" thick - approximately 30" x 24". I'm using it as a floor to install a porta potti. Anyone have scraps or a source? Thanks!
I was able to get some salvaged teak by calling around to a couple of local woodworking stores. One of them had several pieces of reclaimed teak so I bought them all. I wasn't looking for ply, but that might be a good place to start your search.
I'm afraid 24" x 30" is about $100.00 worth. I've seen smaller pieces for sale on eBay. A 1/2" piece of mahogany will look real nice at a fraction of the cost. You could also take the time to lay in some holly strips if you really want that boat look.
Look at Item 160369234647 on eBay. I can't tell what the seller is talking about but it might fit the bill. You could glue it to something to get the full thickness your looking for. Dan
Steve, That sounds like a lot of money for a board you are going to set a port-a-potty on. I would think you could get by with a piece of mahogany plywood sealed with epoxy resin. Or a piece of marine plywood stained to the color you want and sealed.
Yes, the price of teak continues to go up and up! As I mentioned in my "securing porta-potti" post, Star Board might be a better choice as far a cleaning and maintenance is concerned.
Another idea for you is to search th eonline classifieds (craigs and Kijiji) for teak furniture. I have seen some really interesting deals there. Just be sure it is solid, and not laminate, and you may find an end table or coffee table with what you need as a top board. Often folks just want the old stuff gone and will sell for cheap.

I presume the reason you are intending to put a 'floor' under the porta pottie is to save making new holes in the boat . . . <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">Paul, This is a deja vu project I suppose as I did the same conversion our 1981 C25. The footprint of a porta-potti is larger than the factory head - so the board I'm looking to install is simply to provide more floor surface. Since there is less teak on the 89 C25, using Star Board instead of teak plywood should look fine.
