There's an old topic on this, but it's locked so I couldn't reply to it. I'm getting ready to install mine, and I'm looking for a bit of advice from Russ & Paul, both of whom I know have installed them. How did you secure the tank in the bow? I've looked at what photos I can find, and I don't see any attachment points, do you just let it lay in the bow? If not, how did you secure it to the hull? I'm thinking some heavy hooks holding onto the tabs on the nylon sack that holds the tank, that are bolted to some plywood pads, that are expoxied to the inside of the hull.
I would imagine that sailing on SF Bay (Russ) would be pretty analogous to the Puget Sound, so I'm very interested in how you mounted yours.

David, I glassed in a block on each side of the v-berth/water tank locker and secured the aft (wide) end of the tank with a line ran to an eye screwed into the blocks.
The front(narrow end) of the tank is secured by a line to the water ballast air vent hose.
I also put 2" of polystyrene under the tank in order to raise it in order to encourage flow from the tank.
The Polystyrene is shaped to fit the v-berth and is in 3 parts, Port, Stbd (mirror images of each other) and a cut out to fit overlapping the Transducer well. The cutout stradles the well and the port & stbd pieces are shaped to fit around the cutout. I sealed the edges of the polystyrene with Wide Duct Tape.
I epoxied a small eye strap to the hull at each of the 3 corners. Then used a 1/4 line and tied each corner to the eye straps. It's a real cheap solution, but it worked.
Since my original post, I changed the plumbing. I installed a tee fitting and ball value on the standard water tank fill hose. Now when I fill the standard water tank, I can optionally fill the extra tank.
