Would seem to be a pretty nice/affordable option. Haven't checked the dimensions to see if it would fit.

That would be nice, if it does fit, how would you secure it?

OK, Catalina direct has the gimbaled stove that's 20 1/2" x 13" and this one from Cabela's is 16" x 11", so it'd fit. As far as securing it goes, you could do the ole bungie thing or get extravagant and build a base for it.

Actually, it says:
Top burner dimensions: 12" x 21".
Oven dimensions: 16"W x 11"D x 8-1/4"H.
Weight: 35 lbs.
I'd say they mean the internal dimension of the oven.

Assuming a proper(safe) installation, this could be a very cool mod.

They're selling something very similar at Costco right now. I had the same thoughts while looking at it.

Maybe you could make an adapter that would fit into the handles on the side of the unit and integrate with the pivot pin of the original unit.

I just saw one at Costco probably the same one David saw at his Costco. The measurments stated on the box were 12 x 21 x 16 inches (30.5 x 53.3 x 40.6 cm.) It is selling for $150. I'm guessing it would fit in the opening. It's only a guess since my boat is 1 1/2 hours away. I think I'll buy it, take it along and see. Perhaps someone could measure the opening and I could save a trip/purchase, though I hope it will fit. Thanks in advance.

The Cabelas CampChef stove/oven fits. We had a member, John Vining, who installed one on his "swinger" three years ago. Check the forums under "oven", "JohnV". He posted photos of the installation.

Wow! After seeing that I guess I'll have to sand and re-paint my 40 year old green Coleman stove so it's up to the Catalina level of quality!

Happy sailing on this nice Spring weekend!

John's installation is very, very impressive!

I guess the question I have is how much do you really use a stove when sailing/cruising? I was thinking about a basic alcohol stove for coffee and a basic meal on my occasional overnight trips. I too have seen the Costco special and have a Cabela's near by, but, is the effort really worth it???

Hey Peter, good to see you post! (or am I not paying close enough attention?)

Of course it depends on your situation. Some of the guys up in the north west do weeks in the San Juan's and stuff, in the north east they do more overnighters too. it'd be great for that. but still good for resale right?

Dave, thanks for the link. Impressive for sure. Maybe more than I want to tackle. From the looks of it it won't just drop in without some major cutting which I'm hesitant to do. Would it be worth it? Maybe. There aren't a lot of facilities where I sail (closer to none) and we go out for days at a time whenever possible. One of our cruising friends has stove/oven in their SJ29 and it was tough eating our usual hot dogs whilst they were dining on roasted cornish game hens. Worse still, we were anchored just down wind from them.
