Being that:

this is my first summer at a new job, and

I have no vacation time banked, and

I have no real plans or goals for the boat,

I have no idea what to make of the sailing season this year.

The yard has finally gotten around to tending to Iris' wounds from last season, so we have a nicely shaped keel again. The new job has more regular hours, and I get out at 4:00 each day, so I should get home in time for evening races. I also get extra days off based on performance and can elect to work remotely from time to time, so working from the marina may be an option.

It will be a strange, but nice summer I think. Lots of weekend escapes and quiet days, but probably no real cruising and the racing commitment is really up in the air.

How about th erest of you? What does Summer 2010 look like from here?

It looks like night sailing, long sunsets, over-nighting, and fun in the sun. Robert Earl Keen on the stereo and shrimp on the grill.

I'm lovin it...

No But I have studied up on LOW SPEED gunkholing - I'm no good at high speed gunkholing apparently. SWMBO has already said the kids aren't going out this summer. Bummer. I'll haveta figure something out to appease her. Maybe a bigger boat?? - Oh wait, we are payin gdown the bills, not making them bigger.

A coupla weekends back I got to watch a FT10 slide up on a sand bar and I knew it was coming. Pretty funny seeing such a fast new boat go aground, knowing it was going up on a sand hump. They got off pretty easy.

Bingo on the go slow. There's rocks in them waters..
