I went to my daughter's 5th grade talent show today. I was concerned that she might need some moral support should her first solo performance in front of a crowd not go as she planned. Well, she just blew me away. I couldn't have been prouder. Not only did she not need any emotional rebuilding, she just blew me and the judges away with her 'a capella' rendition of Amazing Grace.

Absolutely nothing to do with sailing but, I've burst all the buttons on my vest today.

Jerry, you're getting the biggest pay raise of your life! Have you started looking at 30+ footers yet?

Jerry gets a pay raise while my college student does her "study abroad" semester next fall at Oxford where one semester is about the same as her annual costs at her home school. Anybody wanna buy a boat?

Ah not so fast, I thought the same thing 2 years ago when my daughter graduated from college. I had a few months of easy sailing until she came home with the engagement ring... Do you know what a wedding costs on Long Island? Oh and they will also need a little help in the down payment on a place to live. So no, It really doesn't end with college.

Nice thread. Here's a pic of my 3.5 year old, he just got a haircut. We overnighted on a C-27 this past weekend.

Well actually nobody. In reality I would do anything that I physically and financially could do for her. She never gave me one bit of trouble, Was always there for us when we needed her to be, And an A student. I couldn't have asked for more.

And, Scott, given your signature photo, she obviously takes after her mother.

1. A young couple gets the greatest satisfaction from what might seem like the most modest start, when they do it themselves.

2. A parent's greatest (and often most challenging) contribution at that time is learning not to treat their son/daughter as a child, but rather as an adult, as each of us wanted our parents to do many years ago. [/sermon]

Congratulations!
