I finally got Bamboo out Ponce Inlet yesterday for the first time this year. It was an epic day (shoulda been there John P)! 1 to 2 ft. seas, 5 to 10 kt. winds, no afternoon storms and not too hot! The only bad part was coming back in the inlet with an outgoing tide at it's peak. Dangerous stuff. Had the outboard screaming and fought the turbulence every second. Managed to get a few pics of it but was much worse than they show. Here's a few pics, the rest are here. On the way to the inlet in the morning The Bell buoy, 1 mile out The Daytona Coast line gotta get some cam cleats!

It was a couple women. Had never seen them before. When they got close enough I yelled at them to come to the association site and check it out. Hopefully they will and then I'll be able to give them the shots of their boat that I took.

My only experience with Florida (non-sailing, sadly) is the Daytona/New Smyrna area. I absolutely love that place. I'm very envious of you, and appreciate the pictures. :-)
Also, if you get a set of winchers you won't have to install cam cleats.
When you're-single handing sometimes a quick fix is a real plus. Also when you have shifting winds and want make numerous sheet adjustments a cleat is a patience saver. But last Sunday when I was fighting that wild outgoing current and boat wake in the inlet I was getting really fed up with my sheet and would have really appreciated a cam cleat.
It's funny you say that Jerry. I totally found out Why JohnP likes his preventer. The mainsheet came across the tiller, caught my thumb and I can still feel it a little! And Ray, got my cam cleats in the mail Monday! I think I'll leave the cleats and put the cams just forward. Not sure but that's what I'm thinking.
Hi Dave, yes, I do use winchers. I race every Wednesday and they come in handy as an quick-release cleat. They don't work well at all for "self-tailing" but that's not why I use them. I like them because I didn't have to add any more deck hardware. They basically function like a clam cleat.
Thanks Ben, I may try those! So after seeing Ray's post I was thinking, hey maybe they are called "clam cleats", but they are "cam" cleats. Clam Cleat Cam Cleat
Hopefully by the time I die I'll have 50% of my mariner terminology down
