The Cooper River Marina may be your best bet in close, but expect a long waiting list.

If you find reasonable slip rentals anywhere within 50 miles of Charleston or Savannah, that is not cut-off from the coast by a low bridge, please email me. I did some searching a year ago and found rates over $11 a foot. The fundamental problem is that it is very difficult to get government permission to build a new dock. That has driven demand for slips far above supply. So exploitive marina owners are selling slips at the prices of houses. They are called "dockominiums" because the arrangement is similar to a condominium. Since the marina owners don't own the water or the land underwater AND they are supposed to operate "in the public interest" the legality of that practice is arguable.
