Has anyone used one of these on their C25-250? How quiet are they?

I'd like to add an Air Conditioner for our next Florida summer and figured that the only way to really power it, while on the hook, would be using one of these ultra quiet units.

Albert,
I have a Honda EU3000 that I use with my portable mountain cabin (5th wheel trailer). It is pretty quiet for a generator, i.e. you can carry on a conversation while standing next to it. When I purchased it two years ago it was the quietest of the Honda gensets. Would I use it on my boat? NO! It's heavy, 120+ lbs, bulky, 20+ inches cubed and just awkward to handle. Yes there are the two smaller models that are much lighter and easy to handle, but will they be able to start you AC unit??

Another issue is how do you deal with the exhaust gases? They can KILL you <img src=icon_smile_dead.gif border=0 align=middle>. I would be paranoid about using onboard without a Carbon Monoxide sniffer. On the EU3000, the exhaust is vented thru a grill that is about 4"x12". There is no convenient pipe that sticks thru the case that you could extend overboard.

I have a Honda 1000. I dont know the model but its quiet. The exaust tube is only 1/2" diamiter and an extention slides on very easy making it even more quiet. It fits between the cockpit seats and also has a DC connection. Two 115/120 outlets. It may however not put out enough power to run anything very large. It will realy only put out about 850 watts. Honda cheats on their output ratings so be forwarned.

I do plan on installing a carbon monoxide monitor.

Problem in S. Florida is the humidity. Even with cooler temps; if the humidity is up its uncomfortable.

I think a small window type A/C would not draw much amps upon start up.

Douglas--How long will the generator run? It needs to run about 8 hours on one tankfull; I don't want to wake up in the middle of the night to refuel:-).

Is it quiet enough to not bother you while on the hook?
