This is the compass that Ritchie has build for this application. Or bulkheads are sloped and there are some compasses that don't work well without the teak leveling block which IMHO looks terrible.
While my original equipment Plastimo is still working, on previous boats I have installed the Ritchie Navigator bulkhead mount and it has worked well. Check Ebay or suppliers like Defender who have periodic sales that make it cost effective
I mounted our compass (swing bracket) on a piece of 1x4 that sits in the bottom of the companionway slots. Works well and keeps the compass centered so it is readable from either bench. Stores inside when not sailing.
