I added the additional chain plate, and switched to split, adjustable backstay, and have the old one that is collecting dust. I don't know the age, looks ok, and has a two-position lever. The lever makes it go from tight to loose (up wind, down wind). Makes it easy for raising/lowering mast if nothing else. The lever isn't cheap either, like $60 I think I saw somewhere. Its pretty beefy. I don't have a price, but let me know if interested.
