That is ludicrous! I can't imagine sailing into that. Guess those guys are probably used to it. Its obvious they have done that more than 1 time. Wonder how many crashes there have been. Steve A
Those Danes... standing around in the cockpit and on the bow like it was routine. I suspect they were flying a big spin just before that, for a little fun!
Don't know which coast they're on but if they're on the west side, they sail on the North Sea. Which means they learn to sail in big water. It's not for the faint of heart. I've seen it a number of times in Holland and even on a calm day it was pretty intense.
Svaneke is on the east coast of a Danish island in the Baltic between Denmark and Poland. On Google Earth, you can see the whole scene, right downtown, including both the first jetty and the later pier they cleared as they came in. There's another jetty outside, with the marker light you can see in the video. They probably didn't miss that by much. Photos on Google Earth look much more serene!
A couple years ago I saw a video version of the Santana 22 under the Golden Gate -- scary for a couple of reasons but makes me glad I'm on the relatively tranquil Western side of Long Island Sound
The Santana was where it shouldn't have been, which is why that wave rose up and broke on them. Out where they were supposed to be, they could have surfed on the front of it and had a ball.
