I have a Mercury 6 hp longshaft which I found to be problematic for the Cat 25 - primarily the fact that in heavier seas the prop would be out of the water. Especially when I stood on the bow (my wife says I should lose weight!. It worked fine on my previous boat (Rhodes 22) - but the motor mounts are very different and I couldn't get the prop deep enough with the original mount on my '79 Cat 25.
Anyway, I am buying a Johnson Sailmaster Extra longshaft - I don't know the vintage (anyway of finding out?), but it is in great shape with electric start (Does this mean that it has also the capability of charging the batteries when running?). Does anyone have a manual that I can buy - or where to find one?

I have a Johnson Sailmaster 9.9HP longshaft with all of the manuals. I don't know how old my engine is either (bought the boat with it last year), but I suspect it is early '80s. Send me an email if you are interested.
