Smoked acrylic front hatch for a 1975 through 1987 Catalina 25's & 1984 thru 1987 Catalina 27's. This upgrade hatch uses the stock hinges and the existing factory latch dogs and adjustment rod. This hatch was used for only one season then I sold the boat with the original white fiberglass hatch. It is honestly in a 9 out of 10 condition. The cost new is $575 plus shipping. I am now asking $200 plus shipping. Hatch weighs in at 12 pounds. Measurements for a shipping crate are approximately 37" x 23" x 4" shipping weight estimated to be around 25 to 30 lbs (crated).

Dave, it's a long sail from Mount Hope Bay to either Pensacola or L. Erie on a Com-Pac 27-2.

At $200, I am interested. I fear teh shipping though. Can you price what it would take to send this my way via USPS??

Email me ***NEW EMAIL ADDY*** cpotvin73 at gmail dot com - For reasons known only to God and Microsoft, my hotmail account is no longer accessible which means my paypal account has been taken out with it. We can arrange payment to your terms.

Once I see your email I can send you a shipping address. Sorry for the extra steps.

Hi Prospector:
Please let me know if you are still interested in the acrylic hatch. I am about to bring it to a local marine consignment shop to sell.

<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"> Only if you want to spend the better part of your summer doing fiberglass work on your 1977 Catalina to make it like a 1982 thru 1987. They have two entirely different front hatch designs. Your hatch is on the cabin roof, later model ones are in the slopping front cabin surface. A dramitic difference. Take a look at some pictures of a later model and you will see the difference.

Correction on the years and models that this hatch fits. I really got egg on my face with this one, seems only early 27's have the cabin top hatch setup. Catalina 25's seem to have a slopping front hatch going way back to as far as I can tell the mid 70's. Guess I don't know the model years as well as I thought......sorry. I really did have my 25 for five years but it was a 1987 named Wind Dancer.....now it is Rhode Island based.

hm.. I dont think its really that hard to build this thing.

Just buy a piece of acrylic glass, put it over the original hatch window and using the heat gun bend the glass.
The just cut and voala... :)

I'm just thinking about this to make it for my '78. Much more bigger sheet of glass is cheaper than this. I suppose you need 15mm thick?

Yeah, that's what I thought but.........
Bending a new piece over the old hatch will create the incorrect bend. Not a problem but it'll leak like mad.
So now you need to build a mold. Easy enough but at the cost of the 1/2" acrylic, screwing up one will put you over the top of just buying one. The acrylic in that thickness is very epensive. I think it was you had to buy a whole sheet to get it in that thickness and that color. There's plenty of clear in 1/2" thick.

Hi Happy D:
UPS charges for that size and weight from ZC 02720 to ZC 49106 was quoted at $30 on their website. Please let me know what you would like to do. I will build a crate with a 2 X 4 frame and a 1/4 plywood top and bottom. Hatch will be wrapped in a cloth and stabilized with bubble wrap.
