New Catalina 25 owner (only had her a few months). First time we got to sail her in decent conditions. 2-4 swells, gusty 15-28 knot winds (front edge of storm), small craft advisory, rain. She handled surprisingly well under reefed main and jib. I wasn't sure what to expect but after today I have a lot more respect for this design. Enjoy!
You're a braver man than me Gunga Din. I prefer sailing in fairer weather. That's because I'm usually single handing. Besides, the entrance to Mission Bay can get pretty nasty when the seas are up.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Catalina 25's and the best forum for our boats on the internet.

I've been in and out MB channel 1000s of times over the past few decades or so on various boards and boats. In my experience MB channel entrance is mostly gnarly when max ebb tide hits incoming short interval swell or along the S jetty when there is sizable long interval groundswell (but not as bad now that they dredged again). We used to sometimes used to take borrowed J24s out and surf the breaking waves. The drop was kinda intense but the waves would flatten on the inside. As long as you balanced the boat to broach away from the rocks you were ok. We got lucky (and had a lot of fun...)

We briefly hit 10.0 while surfing back into the channel but camera was too slow to get pic. And roger that regarding gear and rigging...

I like the way your GPS is mounted, too. I might look into that. <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">
Like this but for the 72. Was done by PO but I also liked so kept it.
Ryan, Love the video and welcome! I see you have an 87 wing keel. So do I. Do you know your hull# or sail #? You can add it to the Owners section on the left of the page. Mine is #5688 and I,m guessing yours is somewhat close to that.

Sail number 5695. Probably at the factory at the same time... Just registered in the owners section, thanks for the suggestion.
