Happy New Year to everyone!! I hope some of you were able to celebrate the New Year on your boat (I wasn't). If you did, I hope you didn't forget the maritime custom of writing a New Year's poem in your ship's log.

I wish everyone a great year of happy sailing.

Happy New Year All! Here is a favorite photo of 2010 sailing. Only a few more months to splash!

That's my daughter and my nephew in the catbird seats.

Just two little Yammies? That barge is definitely under-powered.

<< underpowered >>
No.. that boat was wicked ...
2 - 250's it would plane up easily with 15 divers, tanks and full gear. It was a smooth ride, very little beam for 40 feet. It was pretty slick. The morning dives would only have 8 divers.

Just kidding--I'm sure she can get up and go... although two or three 350s are becoming the standard for boats like that. (But then you really need some gold chains and a black mesh sleeveless shirt.)

I've seen some very different dive boats, but this was my favorite.

NYE was fun, we were night sailing on the lake on the C-27 and bumped dock at the Harbor to open the champagne at midnight. Drank some Crown Reserve and some Maker's Mark. Everyone crashed on Joint Venture, the next morning we brewed up some hot buttered rum and sailed south across the lake to Rush Creek Yacht Club to enter the hot ruddered bum regatta, where we took last place. I had the entire family on board and it was a great time, with most everyone staying down below while me, my wife and the skipper handled all the sailing. Then we grilled Earl Campbell hot links on the boat and all the crews from the stripped down sport boats came over and hung out and ate. We might be slower but we cruise in style, grill in the cockpit and flat screen down below. Great fun, pretty chilly. Great way to bring in the New Year!

My buddy's Olson 30,Speedster on the lift. He pulls out after every race. Took this with my phone..

50ยบ+ in Port Clinton, OH! Sitting outside at McCarthy"s with friends until the Walleye Drop - like Times Square, but with a 20 foot fiberglass fish instead of a lighted sphere and about 998,000 fewer people. http://gallery.me.com/dave5041
