hmmm... I do think it is supposed to be on Saturday and hmmm, the weather will be a bit chilly... But aonther site says the 23rd, which will be warmer... Going to use old fashioned technology and call. I'll still go out on Saturday, even if it is a bit chilly. We'll put the Charlie Noble in and fire up the Diesel Heater and serve hot toddies. It's a fun race anyway.
I race in the GOB regatta every year in Annapolis, during the boat show, and it's fun to see all the classics. Be sure you take your camera, of course.
To bad my family is flying in to Pensacola on the 22nd or I would drive down for the festivities; they'd probably be a little testy if I didn't meet them at the airport. Good Old Boat is all about enjoying our boats.

It PROVES the theory of relativity. That is, all things are relative. When I woke up this morning, it was 2 degrees fahrenheit. Currently, 8, heading for a high of 13.

I vaguely remember. My wife walked the dogs this morning, (she grew up in Twinsburg), it's 54 degrees, she was wearing a coat and ear muffs! And, we have the heat on in the house!
Winds were strong which expedited the whole freezing our asses off program, but made it possible to finish and get back to the dock earlier. Nice to have wind... BTW when it is 50 in Flooreda, it's really cold...

The NOAA stations around here stopped recording last night--best guess was about -5F at about daybreak along the coast, where it's generally warmer than inland... I know--mild by MN standards. Also, I heard upstate NY was something like -40F last night.

9 boats in the spin division, 12 non-spin, 15 or so true cruising, and a dozen fun participants... I did not go to the skippers meeting - so I was a bit unclear on the fun boat class. We decided to crew 'cuz living aboard screws up sailing in heavy winds. It takes us a few hours to prep each end. We took 4th in the cruising class. Nice to see a bunch of BBBBE boats racing. (BBBBE = Before Bleach Bottle Boat Era)
We took SV Lysistrata out on Sunday with a friend from Boston aboard and um, yeah it's still cold out there even when the wind is only blowing 20. Saturday we had gusts to 35 during the race, which made it very interesting. But on Sunday we congratulated ourselves on the wisdom of not entering SV Lysistrata because we had more than a few things fly about as reminders that we have been in bondage for too long.
For those who are envious, yep... We had lox and bagels with capers, red onion, bacon and quail eggs over easy while underway going 7 knots in 15 knots of wind - ok downwind - we did have to climb back home which was amazing...
You may now return to your regularly scheduled frigid programing.
We're supposed to get 2-4" of wet snow tonight and tomorrow. I'm ready for spring!
We got our daughter and husband moved to their new apartment this past weekend, fortunately between last week's snowfall and what is coming tonight. I took yesterday off from the "Y" to recover and went back today. The arms were still a bit tender so I only swam 50 lengths of the pool, 72 is 1 mile, so I've got to work my way back up to 72.
Our Sunday afternoon winter club racing supposedly started up last weekend, for those who don't mind the cold, has to be above 38 degrees to go out. Personally, I'll wait for 50. Reaching and downwind are not so bad, it's the upwind leg with the extra wind chill that's tough.
