Sailed about 15 miles yesterday and motored about 3. Wind over the stern quarter all the way, bright sun, and high sixties again. Winter is so tough. I spent the night on the hook off Big Lagoon State Recreation Area southwest of Pensacola. It must have been in the seventies today - T-shirt, shorts, flip-flops, and dumped the shirt for an hour. Went on to Perdido Bay today and back home. Motored for 9 miles in very tight channels, but I sailed for 19. I sailed on the genoa for the first part of the day with 10-12 kts from the SE and didn't put the main up until I got back to Pensacola Bay and the wind dropped to around 8. Single handed tacking main and jenny to avoid a barge tow in skinny water is not on my list of prudent sailing activities. I averaged 4.2 kt sailing with the jenny and 4.6 (managed 5.9 gps when the breeze picked up for 5 minutes) with full sails in lighter air. Great 2 days! I also discovered that if I bungee the Mac to the table at the bulkhead, I can see the charts and my position while at the helm. I guess I need to do a permanent installation of my inverter. Even backing into my slip was smooth tonight.
