Old hat to a lot of you but it works and allows to run the motor in fresh water after each use in salt water. Some fingers are just too short to reach the motor and make a hose connection without risking falling in.
Does anyone use cleaning additives in the water?
Using fresh water while the motor carborator runs "dry".
Pail obtained at Home Depot

Henk, If that is a an 8HP Honda you can add a tee to the rubber hoses under the cowling and add a garden hose connection so you can flush the motor using a dock hose. Check these links:
All last year I used a clear vinyl bag to flush my Honda BF9.9D, in a way similar to your bucket. I could stow the bag aboard since it folded up nicely. However, it was tedious setting it up and putting it away.
Then last month I finally found the correct part from Honda mentioned in a post on iboats.com. It's the brass item pictured in the center. It screws in to a fitting with a one-way valve on the engine water jacket and is used with a garden hose. It must be removed each time to put the engine cover back on.
For me, it's quicker and easier than using a container.
