Still new to this boat, still new to furlers.

Tomorrow we raise the mast to measure for a new forestay for the new furler.

The previous owner got a couple/three things backwards on this boat.

So, this is the correct pin that the furler gets attached to - right?

Yeah, yeah, we have new sheaves waiting to be installed . . .

That's what my diagrams show and that's how we have it rigged. It says that the other (forward) one is for a spinnaker.

My thought too. Redundant and another part to fail or come loose.

I suspect the current forestay was made too short for the current furler. The PO had also added a shackle at the base of the aft stay. I have since removed the aft stay and measured it and it matches the specs Kent Nelson shared with me.

I also had to add a 2" D-shackle to the bottom of the furler drum to get it too reach the stemhead. Hence, this post . . . I want this measurement to be dead-nuts.

Your comments may also explain why the rigger wants me to measure from the pin that passes thru the masthead fitting to the pin that passes thru the stemhead.

The rigger has also mentioned a toggle - perhaps that will go between the lower swivel assembly and the stemhead?

Are you guys using a toggle on your furler?

Yes, my Harken furler came to me with a toggle at the stem fitting.

CDI recommends a toggle at the top of their furlers to avoid bending the stem-head.
