After shoveling the snow off my boat I happened to stop by the Bellport dock and came across the manufacturers team of the Norlin Mark III, a 1/3 scale of the 12 meter sloop. Try www.Gaviayachts.com.
I wish you could have seen their efforts in winds to 25/30kns. chop to 2' with about 10 " freeboard. INSANE
Was there a posting here, a few months ago, about a guy sinking one of those mini 12 meters and just barely getting himself out of the boat as it went down?
Seems like they're a little smaller than 1/3 scale... more like 1/5. We have a few around here--pretty little buggers out of the water, and a little strange with a giant head sticking up when they're sailing. Sorta like DC on a 12!

Paul I think the article was in Newsworthy and the unit he was sailing was not equipped with floatation, the builder says his are. They sure look great on the trailer but all but disappear when wet. I still may get one, if I can overcome the claustrophobia thing.
Dave, I was thinking of you when I posted the article. They are up your way somewhere. I don't know about the scale though. The twelves were 39+ feet and this one is 13+' that looks to me to be about 1/3. Wadda ya think? Val On the ice breaker CALISTA ( shoveled clean today). Dang I hate ICE
Val: I thought the 12 Meters were in the range of something like 58-63 feet. I seems like they HAD to be longer than the New York 40s or the Tartan 10s... No?
