Today was the first annual weekly or so L Dock Aramada springtime celebration MB Domination Regatta and BBQ Fiesta. LDA Race Commodore James and LDA Marketing Director Braidy set the course, essentially a slalom winding around every buoy between the Mission Bay Channel and the Glenn Rick bridge. The official start sequence was unique in that there wasn't one. It was a close fought match between three Cat 25s and one Santata 525. In the end Sanata Sal, formerly of "Jerry Rig", placed well after struggling to get their mainsail up but they almost caught a dog so in a sense they won even though a powerboat ended up snaking their catch. Regardless, Braidy and Darikka (on the boat formerly known as "Sea Fever") abandoned the race due to medical reasons related to MB weekend exposure. You know how it is, luckily they're both fine. Braidy's 5150 reasons for withdrawing left James on the boat formerly known as "Indiscipline" and me and Nicole on "Maria T". Epic weather! Sunny skies, topless temps, short interval swell, and wind in the mid teens. The non-existent starting sequence went off without a hitch and soon former-Indiscipline and Maria T didn't start the dramatic race. Congrats to James and Mark on former-Indiscipline for their dominating victory in the first quarterly semiannual full moon MB non-regatta and springtime BBQ jamboree. The after party was OFF THE HOOK YO! Amazing location in a gated community on the water. Incredible food! Fancy steaks wrapped in tasty stuff, grilled fish, salads, and 'da beers. DJ Sal rocking the joint, girls everywhere, dogs, birds. It's all a blur. Thank you to James, Braidy, Darikka, Nicole, Sal, Deb, Jen, and Mark for making the event such a success. Extra thanks to Dr. JM for surgically implanting LDA pennants on all participating yachts. LDA membership now includes an estimated 70% (rounded up) of all sailboats on L Dock. Next time there will be no mercy. L Dock Armada... Over and out.
The coveted official L Dock Armada pennant. Only issued to members who complete the initiation ceremony after being voted on by all LDA officers in good standing. By that I mean officers who are still able to stand after the ceremony.
