The 2011 National Regatta will be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota hosted by the Wayzata Yacht Club on Lake Minnetonka. This looks to be the most well attended National Regatta since Gary Bruner’s Fleet 94 hosted the Nationals in Oregon in 2004 that attracted over 20 boats from our Association classes. We wish them good luck, fair winds and a great attendance. Go to the Racing page of the Association web site; http://www.catalina-capri-25s.com/racing/racing.asp for information on participating in this years National Regatta.
Now it’s time to call for bids for the 2012 Catalina 25/250 – Capri-25 Association National Regatta.
Our bylaws state; “Fleet bids to host the Nationals shall be submitted in writing to the Vice Commodore by June 1 for a vote of the Officers (Article VIII, Section B) by June 30. “ That would be me.
If you have Association boats in your area, C-25’s, C-250’s and Capri 25’s, that enjoy racing and are willing to host an event that will attract members from all over, step up and make a bid to host the associations National Regatta. Hosting our National Regatta can bolster your racing season and will be a great asset to the Association. Contact John Gisondi, Vice Commodore at Peregrine85 @ gmail.com with your bid to host the Nationals.
Regional Regattas Not every fleet or group of association members can host a National Regatta but many of you enjoy racing comparable boats. The officers have approved “Regional Regattas” so that local fleets can host sanctioned regattas in their regions, competing with our members and promoting racing amongst our association boats. Hosting a successful “regional” will go a long way in making your venue eligible to host the annual “National Regatta”.
These are great opportunities for our racing members. Step up and make a bid for the Nationals or a Regional Regatta. Still open for bids. Thank you John Gisondi, Vice Commodore C-25/C-250/Capri-25 National Assoc. .
