AFter a lot of measuring, configuring, evaluating, etc. I decided to run lines aft, buying another cheek block to mount on top of the double cheek block already installed on the deck.
I didn't want to drill new holes and fill old holes and figured that a double cheek block was ok, so a triple would be too. I also considered the height for trippingl, but a quick perusal of the deck showed any number of other hardware like cleats, genoa blocks, rope clutches, that stick up equally high.
I'm pleased with the result. One thing - I figured the load would increase substantially given the moment arm provided by the final third cheek block, so I used another cheek block plate as a mounting backing in the cabin rather than the washers. . .. Thought it might be helpful for others. . . . pics here http://seatitude.intuitwebsites.com/cheekblocks_op_640x480.jpg
Now that looks really good! When I replaced our single cheek blocks with doubles recently, I was obviously left with the old units. Now I see that just using longer bolts, one side of the old cheek block and the block itself on top of the doubles, then, as you suggest, using the 2nd face of the old block as a load spreader inside the cabin, I'll be able to setup and run the two remaining lines (Outhaul and less used topping lift) back to the cockpit.

Tks for the tip. Did you add additional clutches? Steve A <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">
YEs - the PO had Ronstan rope clutch installed - a single as I recall - so I used those holes and size and bought a triple and a double ronstan to add to the singe, so I have three on port/3 on starboard. http://seatitude.intuitwebsites.com/ropeclutch_op_640x480.jpg
Nice! Why didn't I think of that before I bought a Schaefer 4 roller deck organizer, at least I haven't installed it yet. Maybe I can re-list it on ebay. I plan to have 2 lines port and 3 starboard, I can take the single line organizer from port and put atop the double starboard, buy a double organizer for port. I'm going to take the single clutch from port and bold it starboard next to the double clutch that's already there and buy a double clutch for port. I'll have main halyard and first reef tack and clew starboard and second reef tack and clew port for my double line reefing.
- sorry the quality is not great on a couple of these pics. Also I was glad that after a serious downpour rain, there were no leaks in either the rope clutches, or the triple cheekblock deck organizers. Thanks for your interest and I hope this is helpful. mj
