Seeing that the forum is really quiet, let me throw something out for discussion: Water balloon sailboat battle. I came up with this idea, wrote a set of rules and proposed it to our race committee. The committee liked it and we scheduled the battle. Unfortunately we haven't had enough sailors interested in participating and so I may have to cancel. Here are the general principles: One water balloon launcher per boat, 20 water balloons and two teams. Each team has a flag/dummy boat. The object is to sail a pre-determined course and the first team to have their flag/dummy boat cross the finish line wins. If a boat is hit by a balloon, it must perform two 360's. If the flag/dummy boat is hit, it must toss the flag and dummy overboard and perform two 360's. Another team member must pick up the flag and dummy in order to advance toward the finish line. Staggered start, with each team sending a boat out in 30 second increments. Flag/dummy boat must go last. The launcher consists of two 3' lengths of latex tubing connected to a funnel. Depending upon how and where you tied the tubing up, we were able to launch balloons from 80' to 180'. Ramming or boarding an opponent's boat is prohibited and violators will be keel-hauled! Ideas? Suggestions? Dumb idea? This is the short overview. I've got three pages of rules that I came up with.

Sorry to burst your ballon, so to say. As a US Flagged vessel under 26' you may need a reminder because the placard is not required. Read up on the Act to Prevent Pollution from Ships so you can modify this game to be compliant on public water. Again, sorry, sounds like fun.
Yup. More rubber junk being scattered in the lake... Sounds like fun, but it's a bad idea, and correspondingly illegal. (My boat has to have the placard, which is above my sink.)
Super-Soakers might be the basis for a more environmentally friendly (and legal) game.
Water balloon fights pop up around here during weather related delays all the time. The use of any launching method other than a human arm is grounds for immediate disqualification from the entire series. Apparently, in years past, the rubber tube and funnel method has been responsible for an eye injury and a broken plexi hatch.
We had a PRO start a race in no wind for a fleet that, for multitudes of reasons, thought it would be a good idea to waterballoon the committee boat. pretty sure that will be the last time in a while that a balloon breaks on the RC boat.
