Just spent $$$ on a new 18v cordless drill. My old drill 'Firestorm' works fine, but both of the rechargeable batteries are dead.
If anyone wants the Fire-storm Drill, Sawzall, Mini circular saw then let me know, they all work, I'm a pretty heavy user (but only weigh 185lbs ) Shame to toss them for want of new batteries.
(It is the 24v Firestorm Kit with the wall mount double battery charger.)
Paul, you can get the batteries rebuilt. I've done so with several of my Dewalt 18 volt packs, as well as a couple of my Makita sticks & my Uniden handheld VHF. The cost is reasonable and you generally get better performance and use time. I can provide you with the name of the company I use if you're interested.
It doesn't matter to them who makes the batteries, they quote by voltage only. I've had good success with PrimeCell but the owner can be a bit grumpy to deal with. However, I've never gotten anything but a quality rebuild from them, and I've had dozens of batteries rebuilt. I used to work for an engineering company that had half a dozen surveying instruments with 2-3 batteries each, as well as industrial GPS, etc. We were always having batteries rebuilt by these guys. Once rebuilt, they take longer to recharge, but that's because they have more capacity.
They frequently (used to) have buy it now auctions on Ebay to recell specific batteries, but a quick check just now didn't show any. Possibly they no longer do Ebay, or they just don't have any listed. If you're not in a hurry it might be worth your time to wait for another auction, it's usually about 15% off or so.
