The 2011 Nationals are this weekend. Good luck to all contenders. I can't believe that I'm actually writing this. Could I get a straw poll on who would seriously consider trailering their boat to Nashville if I put in a bid for the 2012 Nationals. Our club has a strong S2-7.9 fleet, and we hosted the S2 Nationals a few years ago, 21 boats, so I'm confident our club can handle it. We put on 2 regattas in October (this year 3 regattas with the C-22 GRITS event Oct. 8-9), the Oktoberfest Regatta (1st w/e)and the Equalizer Regatta (3rd w/e), so we could include it in one of those. My one problem is that our C-25 fleet is not active and those of us with C-25's generally race on other boats, in my case the C-22. I guess what I'm saying is that I would like to see what the interest is before I approach my club with the idea. What say you?

If you plan on it being a non-spinnaker regatta, you can probably persuade some of the local C25 owners to participate on their own boats. If you allow spinnakers, you'll decrease participation, because most C25 sailors don't fly chutes. That would give you a base of participants to begin with. Then you would only need to attract a few outside boats to swell the ranks. It sounds like you have the makings of a good national regatta, and I don't think we've ever had one in Tennessee. Go for it!
I won't be going to any Nationals, but I might make my trailer available if insurance coverage could be worked out. Seems like TN would be a pretty centralized location.
Hi David, I would drive to Nashville for the 2012 Nationals!! And I can consider making my Trailer available to anyone who wants to take their swing keel too. It is just a matter of logistics. Cheers J
Thanks for the replies so far. I know I posted this right at the start of the Nationals, so maybe all you guys who were there have had time to recover and will chine in here soon, right?
Edit 11/15/2011: Any others care to comment? BTW, at this year's Equalizer Regatta at our club, we had over 20 S2's again, with several from Canada and Michigan. Pics can be seen at: http://www.ppyc.org/membership/photos.htm
