Luff 28' on a tall rig? Really? I have one right now and am in the market for another....but this one is 30' and it was conservative....could probably be more.
It could easily be 28 1/2, but I see 28.5 is the measurement for a standard rig genoa. We had a tall rig, and this sail is what came with that boat and is what we used. It is possible we measured incorrectly, but more likely I suppose that we received a standard rig genoa with this boat when we bought it. If its a standard then maybe I should keep it and have it changed for our current furler. We should remeasure.
I remeasured and made changes, but the changes were insignificant. I would be glad to know what I have since it deosn't line up with what i thought it was. The bag says Cat 25 T 150% Genoa. We're measuring the triangle, not the curve.
I corrected the listing. We do not have the furler for sale. We also aren't sure from the measurements we took if this is for a Tall Rig, but it did come on our TR, and we used it on our TR. If this will work on our now standard rig, we may keep it and have it modified for our furler.

What furler do you have on your new boat? Most (but not all) small boat furlers use the same luff tape (ie:CDI and Harken furlers use the same luff tape).

The boat we just purchased has an older Furlex that allows the jib to be hanked on.
According to The SailWarehouse, the luff for a standard rig C-25 150 genoa with roller furling is 28.5'. It's not unusual to find a standard rig sail on a tall rig boat. Hope that helps.
Thanks, yes we see it is most likely a standard rig sail. This means we can use it on our new (to us) boat if we convert it back to hanks. I don't know why the sail bag said TR, or why they had a SR sail for the TR boat, but when you buy a 25 year old boat I suppose you can't take anything for granted. I knew the luff did not go all the way to the mast, but I've sailed on so many fractional rigs that it didn't register with me that the sail might not be the right one for the boat with all of the other indicators that the sail was made for the boat (sail bag says TR, sail came with boat, sunguard cover matched mainsail cover, etc.)
Correction to earlier comment about the furler on our new (to us) boat. It is a Mariner Roller-stay. The concept sounds great (uses hanked on sails) but the fact that I don't hear much about these any more tells me we may be in for an interesting time. Maybe I should hold off on coverting our genoa to hanks as we may instead end up replacing our furler.
