One shot looking north to Ego Alley--the other looking south from above Ego Alley... An amazing setup with the docks they string across the harbor. (Newport is similar, but all in one show.) I'd almost pay to watch the switchover in Annapolis on Oct. 11 & 12--that has to be a mad-house!

Wow, would you look at that! Never been to anything that size before. I bet that's FUN. Do you have to bring a big rag to keep the drule off your chin? Hey Tom Curran, Paul Alcock, are the Miami or St. Pete shows anything like this?
If you can imagine, Newport is most of the boats that go to both shows in Annapolis, minus some from the Chesapeake area and plus a bunch from Maine, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island builders. Many of the Newport power boats stopped at the Norwalk show on their way to Annapolis--just a dozen or so of the big sailboats (including three big Catalinas this year).
Anyway, aside from the Providence show , how bad can any boat show be?
I've been to the Annapolis show a number of times and it is spectacular. If you go to their website - they have a time lapse video of the sailboats leaving. http://www.usboat.com/us-sailboat-show/home
As of now, there are 3 of us (from my office) that are interested in going to the Annapolis show on Sunday (9OCT). They have other sailboats. One has a Glocester 20 and the other has...I forget what. Anyway, tentative arrangements made today. I have to check with the boss at home if the day is open for me to go but I believe it's okay.

(I thought the big cat at the bottom was a dock.) Now I don't have to pay to see it!
If you are planning a trip, you may want to avoid Saturday 10/8. Navy has a home football game so I have no idea where the boat show parking will be (normally parking is at the stadium.)

For those interested in going on Saturday, the web site says: Please be advised that due to a Navy home football game alternative parking will be provided on Riva Road. Follow the signs to locations on Riva Road. Bus transportation will be provided on this day and each day of the shows.
So, for those of us who are new to the group (I still need to join; I haven't forgotten!), is there a way to easily identify ourselves to other forum members who might be in attendance, other than periodically yelling out "I am JimGo of the Catalina-Capri-25s Owners International Association!" at the top of my lungs? Will the Association have a table/booth?
ETA: No, I am not above doing such a thing. Yes, I am aware that doing so would guarantee that I was attending the show alone, even if my wife and boys accompanied me to the admission booth. So no, I won't be yelling it at the top of my voice!

People arrive at different times on different days with different agendas. Who's going to man a table through the whole show (or even part of it)? Better to plan a single time, like 1 pm, to get together at, say, the C-355. Then have each member tie a green ribbon (we all have Christmas ribbon) on their hat or jacket.
Our Association doesn't have a table, but Catalina has a table that is designated as a meeting place for members of the various Catalina Association members. It is usually "manned" by volunteer Catalina sailors. In recent years, I have seen Max Munger at the table. Max is or was a long-time officer in the C30 National Association, who sails and races a C30 very competitively in Solomons, MD. Every year people talk about meeting at the Boat Show, but they never seem to. I always stop at the members' table and ask if any C25 members are around, but have never met any.
If anyone wants to meet, I suggest they not schedule it during the boat show itself, because people want to spend their time looking at the boats, checking out the booths, and attending the seminars. It makes more sense to me to arrange to meet at a specific restaurant or sports bar afterward, at dinnertime. Everyone has to eat dinner, and that way we won't have to use up our limited time during the day to see all the exhibits.

How true! Dave is correct - there is A LOT to see at the Annapolis show. What would we discuss there that doesn't get discussed here?
The mass exodus at the end of the show is worth seeing. All the captains hot dogging and they tear it up in about an hour because the powerboats are waiting to come in..
A bunch of C25 folks got together for dinner after the Chicago Strictly Sail Show, about 4 years ago, and had a good time. It's fun, if enough people can coordinate their schedules.
Wow, we walked around for about 3 hours this afternoon until the show closed for the night - LOTS of eye candy there, and information overload! LOL Ironically, we ran into the seller of our boat there!
I went last year, and it was great. Would go again this year, but my wife's out of town so I'm shuttling the kids around all weekend. I met some SailNet friends there last year, and it was great to turn virtual friends into real friends. In my experience, the best way to link up is trade cell phone numbers and link up at lunch time. That way, if anyone has any hot tips on great deals to be had or great seminars to see, you have time to check them out before the show closes.

I remember seeing about a hundred people with Good Old Boat hats.
