So let's get a list of boat names, I'm in as Andiamo I and II.

I was amazed how addictive this game was last time. Lost lots of sleep too!

How addictive? I just bought a new laptop so I can play at work during lunch. Might have to use my HTC phone to sneak a game play or two in during the day too!

I think I came in 12,300+ place out of I believe something like 70,000 boats at the end. I'll have to see if I can find my "certificate".

Another example of how addictive...

from the VORG wiki "Credits The ingame currency of the Volvo Ocean Race Game 2011-2012 are the Credits. With these Credits you can purchase virtual items that can be used for instance to enhance your boat’s performance and to make it possible for you to sleep occasionally. You can purchase and use credits at any point in the game. You don’t have to make a decision before you start sailing. You can use free and purchased credits in the same way"

Darn it! I hit some small speck of an island with Andiamo II and went aground. I swear I checked last night while zoomed all the way in to make sure there were no small islands in my intial path and this island was not there! I'm moving now.

Dave -- Where are you going? Looks like you're aground with all 3 boats. Rita is blowing your doors off although she is behind me.

Four words: VORG iPhone app sucks.

I'll fix it shortly, but I guess this leg is shot.

Are you still using Daveg 1, 2, 3? I can't them to pull up to follow. I got Pointyshoes.

Yes, but I think they're spelled daveg (no caps). I can't find PointyShoes either, or most of the rest of you guys for that matter. I'm less than impressed with the UI thus far. And they're being excoriated on the Facebook page for a server hang at the beginning of the race and calling for a restart. It would have been nice if they'd just carried over the associations from the beta race, but I can forgive them for that, they probably reset their database for the new race. If it's like the last race, most of the issues will get worked out.

My boats carried over from the other race. All I had to do was select a new color.

Rita's boat is listed as Pointyshoes with the "S" in shoes being lower case. I tried Daveg and daveg. One of those two pulled up early this morning but now it's not.

Also, when I select to "Follow" someone in the race I can't get it to stick.

I did about 20 minutes ago. I was watching it and when zoomed in I was going to just miss the coastline to the west. I was originally going to go further SW before tacking but the winds were getting too light and I was losing ground to the leaders.

Yeah, I'm short tacking, trying to stay in the 35+kt wind zone while I'm still up tonight. I've made up way over 10k places, but I'm still drag shovel.

Not surprisingly, Rita's kicking my butt, but then again, she wasn't aground for two hours or so this morning (nor did she wake me up to tell me about it). However, she was talking smack this afternoon while we were down on our own boat, so I'm not inclined to help her much.

I actually was expecting the game to just launch my boats for me. In th last game, if you didn't give your boat any commands before the game, it'd launch with the crowd, and follow the recommended course. This is what I was expecting to happen.

Andiamo I crossed the line this morning finishing in 28 days, 3 hours, 10 minutes.

Not sure how they calculate where you rank but I'm ranked 16,859 overall with a first leg ranking of 21,159 out of 121,060 boats

Yepper.. I did horrible this leg.. I'm STILL out there and will probably get transported in soon.

Had a LOT goin on this month.

I've gotta say, I'm not payin to play, and with only a few sails to chose from it really makes it less interesting..

Yeah, my #1 boat will finish in about 12 hours, the other two will never get close enough to outrun Scotty.

The game was fun at the very first, even with my horrible start, but I've steadily lost interest to the point where my office mate has started reminding me to check my boat (he beat the snot out of me this leg).

Maybe next leg I'll see if I can make it to Australia in the Roaring 40's before the leg ends with one of my boats. Send another one west toward Tierra del Fuego, and play the "good" one for real.

Did you guys see the link to the tracks of all the boats? Pretty interesting. One guy's trying to make it to Alaska via the Northwest passage, wonder how far he'll get?

I'm signed up, dunno why they can't just carry the boats forward. I don't remember having to sign up for each leg in the last VORG, but maybe I'm just not remembering correctly.

I agree, I don't remember having to sign up for each leg either. Maybe having to do it this way lightens the load on their servers. In the past I assume if someone started the race on the first leg and lost interest the boat never got dropped from their records. This way each leg only has current boats on their servers. Also, since you can have multiple boats you can choose to change the quantity on each leg.

This way also allows you to change the color of your boat(s) on each leg.

Yeah, well, if you had extra boats in the last race, they get reallocated when you sign back up. Along with the extra two I added so I'd be at "three"... So, now I've got five boats. I've got two set to head off in different directions, and the "original" three set in slightly different tacks to see which one gets the best start. I will NOT be staying up tonight to launch. Either they go off as set, or... they won't.

Did you notice the extra DHL Code Zero sail we can use for free?

One of my dad's best friends started DHL with a couple of his USN buddies in Hong Kong (?) using Ford Broncos with 1/4" steel plate welded to them to make armored cars. It was fascinating to listen to his stories about their start & the stuff they used to do to move money in and out of various countries.

Just read that a DHL DC-8 landed in Atlanta a couple of days ago with the #3 engine on fire. Everyone was OK.

This game is addicting. I played it during the last VOR race and it really consumed my time. I'm not playing this year because my old body needs sleep! Good luck racers.
