Moved the roller from the C25 to the wife's W25 and had to buy a new sail. Roller fit with no alterations. Looks like a perfect FL winter Sunday afternoon to test it. Well almost perfect, calling for light winds (< 10 knots). I went with the Geona Sleeve offered on Catalina Direct, but bought direct from ATN (the manufacturer). So far the sleeve seems like a good alternative to the sacrificial strip, although it's a extra step, it's easy to install. Will take a some pictures and post. Here's a shot of the sail during the install/fitting.

Genoa Sleeve per CD:

http://catalinadirect.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&product_ID=2444

Requires a spare halyard so it would work with the CDI furler.
With the criss-cross lacing, do you remove it completely while sailing, or leave it bunched up at the bottom of the forestay?

I happen to have "inherited" a genoa sleeve that was on my boat, although one of the PO's had removed the roller furling. Instead of roller furling I got nice, new, hank-on, Ullman sails, and I used the sleeve for a bimini cover. It is made of beautiful, heavy sunbrella with a great zipper.

That previous design (sometime pre-2005) from CD lacked these features:

No zig-zag cords to stop flogging

No adjustable cord to take out the slack

Standard white nylon zipper to be unzipped all the way up

No velcro straps to secure the bottom

I think these improvements are really impressive!

Happy sailing!

DaveP - the sleeve comes all the way off, you stuff it back into it's bag and stow down below or leave in your dock box.

JohnP you're right, the newer design (made by and also sold by ATN) is an upgrade. A neighbor boat has one without the zigzag cords with two zippers to allow the sheets to come out. The space for the sheets would be nice, but the cords do tighten the sleeve up pretty tight. Here's a couple shots of my sleeve:

DaveR...Chuck's stretching the truth a little...
