Yup--it's been making a mess of NZ beaches, likely with the worst to come. I saw a count of lost containers, which may have increased when the ship broke up. No excuse.
Interesting to watch how the ship has broken apart structurally. Equally appears that an attempt was made but aborted to remove the containers --again interesting. And finally whoever was on the bridge apparently maid a huge error in piloting/navigation.
The pics I saw showed what appeared to be very definite corrosion issue at the break, severe enough to been seen clearly in the pictures. Bets are that someone is researching the recent pictures of the vessel to determine the seaworthy condition for insurance purposes.
Off topic, kinda, when we see the pics of vessels on the AIS sites, does anyone know how recent those pics are or if they are taken on entry/exit ports passage.
