OK, I think I have the picture now. The couple of topping lifts that I have looked at were cables fastened without any adjustment. I can add one with adjustable pulleys etc and it will work. I just bought a bunch of halyard line and maybe I will have enough left to fashion a topping lift. I have the boat home with the mast down so will be able to work on it.
My topping lift is not adjustable. It holds the boom about 1' lower than the pigtail does. When I hoist the main, the topping lift goes slack by a few inches.

I don't recall the exact dimensions, but it is indeed an asymmetrical spinnaker. It looks like a symmetrical in the photo because the spinnaker is rotated rather forward.
I picked up my foresail yesterday along with the items necessary to build a topping lift. It will be adjustable. It will be a 1/4 " non stretch line tied off at the mast head on the same pin as the rear stay. There will be a pulley on the aft end of the boom and a line holding V cleat mounted to the side of the boom to hold the line.
