The admiral and I left the dock around 2:00pm, sailed for about 1.5 hours, dropped the hook, and sailed back into the marina right before sunset. Hit the tiki bar for about and hour to watch the sunset (and drinks) and called it a day. A good easterly 10 knot winds (perfect for our part of the world), seasonal temps, and lots of sun.

So who else took a break from the boat work to enjoy the day?

My wife and I went for a 9 hour sail yesterday, so she wanted a bit of a break today. Some other friends have been interested in sailing though, so we went down together and did a few laps around Lake Union. It's my first time having guests (including a 2 year old) on board and I let them handle the helm and mainsail trim while I handled the jib trim.

Lake Union is where my wife and I learned to sail a few months ago with Center for Wooden Boats (aka CWB), and our boat is moored there, but we always head east to Lake Washington. It was nice to spend a few hours on Lake Union, see the CWB Blanchards out, and mingle with the traffic.

I really need to get a smaller jib, the 135% genoa is a lot of sail sometimes.

I was out today from about 1130am - 2pm. It was in the high 60s and windy (estimate 15-20mph perhaps a bit higher at times) - Only sailed with the main sail. Broke a sail slug and one of the Davis Metal hinged telltales I had on the port and starboard stays, broke at the base. (I had my old sails on. My newer sails were cleaned and I will probably put them back on in a few weeks.) When I was back in the dock, I replaced the sail slug with an extra one I had. I also had an extra starboard telltale, so got off easy this time.
