270 days of moorage isn't cheap. If you had the boat in a marina for $200/mo that is $1800, if you lowered the price $1800 I wonder if it would have sold that much sooner.
There are so few boats on the used market that need no work that prices just rarely if ever reflect that state. That'll make boats that are in excellent condition seem overpriced by default.
Knowing what I know now.....if I were in the market for a C25, to keep as a "forever" boat....I would not hesitate to go after Doc's boat, or the few other C25's in the same nick as Destiny. In fact, I would not settle for less and I'd pony up the boat bux in a flash.
Problem is...."that buyer" is just so incredibly rare....and in this current market, which is the best time ever to be a buyer.....$14k can get you ALOT of boat.
Personally, I hope Doc sells Destiny at or near his asking price, and the next owner privileged to have her comes here and becomes part of our community.
I agree, You are ALWAYS going to do STUFF to make her YOUR BOAT. and than Some.. A good boat is worth all that you pay for her! and you will sleep better at night..
Well forum readers, today was THE day my beloved Destiny was sold to a great fellow sailor on my waters who got a slip on MY dock in my marina! I will now walk down the dock and see my old boat before I walk over to my NEW old boat. How cool is that?! Although the buyer came from another website I really enjoyed this thread and all the great comments that were posted. Thanks again to Joe diver for the support. I think the new owner will cherish Destiny like I did and can't wait to show him what she can do! And I will tell the new owner to join this wonderful resource we call the owners association so he can benefit like I did. THANK YOU!
Congrats, to you AND the new Owner, Whats that saying the two happiest days of a boat owners life...The day you buy your boat and the day you sell your boat.. Best wishes..
The great thing is that it won't seem like I sold Destiny because it will be at my dock and I will be going out on her to show the new owner the LINES!
Hello all. Let me introduce myself. I'm the proud new owner of Doc's old boat, Destiny. We launched on Friday and had our maiden sail on Saturday. She's a wonderful boat and handled beautifully. Regardless of the 'calm' forecast, we got her up to hull speed in very little wind. Can't wait to get her out in a bit more wind. I'm also a new member of the Association Forum and look forward to taking advantage of all the knowledge and experience available here.
