I plan to change the color of my boot stripe and sheer stripe at the end of this season. I just don't like the brown color and they are pretty faded. The boot stripe looks pretty clearly to be paint, but I'm not certain about the sheer stripe. It looks like it may be some sort of tape but I haven't tried to remove any of it. Has anyone changed these that can say for certain ? Any suggestions for paint to use? All help is appreciated!

Don, Are you sure about that? I'm 99% certain that mine is original, and when I was polishing the hull a few months ago, I kept getting color off of the stripes when I hit them, even the sheer stripe, or whatever it's called, under the rub rail would do that to me, so I know it wasn't just bottom paint contamination.

Thanks all for your replies. I had not suspected gelcoat but I guess that's good news. I should be able to lightly sand it and paint a new color over it.
As mentioned above, I would vinyl the stripes just incase you change your mind, or want to revert to factory. This way you won't affect the gel coat either.
