For my birthday a few days ago, I received the 3rd generation rudder that I'm looking forward to trying out here soon and a Tiller Tamer.
The question I have on the Tamer is where is the best place to mount the lockdown (top or bottom of tiller and distance) and where/distance did you mount the clamcleats?
I'm having that "drill the first hole in your new boat" apprehension and would like to get it right the first time.
Kirk - instead of drilling holes for cam cleats, couldn't you just use the stern cleats? (There's that KISS principle again..) Derek
Kirk, When I mounted my tiller tamer I mounted it far enough back on the tiller so my hand was comfortable. I also mounted it on top of the handle because you will be adjusting the tension of the knurled knob. As for the cam cleats I didn't use them, I used two quick disconnect "D" rings and fastened them to the forward stantions. That way the "D" rings can be quickly unhooked for easy access to the gas tank and swim ladder and "no extra holes drilled". "Bear" on Brandy C 250 WB on the hard in "Upstate N.Y."
