I do not know the correct answer, however, I wish I had some further back. On windy days I do not run out the jib all the way and it would be nice to have some even though the jib has a lousy shape and is less efficient compared to a hank on.
You can install as many as you want wherever you want. I have thought about putting 3 more on mine - 2 across teh foot and one behind the one I have already about halfway up the luff.
I put them on my old hank-on 150% as recommended and they worked good.
The package comes with a total of 14 tell-tales. I think this time I'll install them as recommended and add another row back near the center of the sail so if I only roll it out part way I can still adjust the shape accurately.
