I have been on the hunt for a reasonably priced stainless steel stacking pan set for JD, but the price was way over the horizon, I kept revisiting the offers online. Not a lot better and was feeling like I would have to bite the bullet of a couple of boat units.

Today, at the Local WM store that is closing in a few weeks, they had a 9 piece magma set for $70!!!

Now I'll have to find something to balance the heel when I put them on board!

Nice! We have the 7 piece and it works great. The hardest part is finding storage for it on the boat, we only pack a subset of it (and keep that in the lower stern galley cabinet).

The other stove gear that we bring along are the tiny GSI tea kettle:
http://www.amazon.com/GSI-Outdoors-Glacier-Stainless-Kettle/dp/B004N5WFII/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1343261294&sr=8-1&keywords=stainless+tea+kettle+camping

and a Le Creuset 8" cast iron omelette pan:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Le-Creuset-Cast-Iron-Satin-Black-Interior-Omelette-Pan-Volcanic-20-cm-/350578715165?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51a01eaa1d#ht_551wt_1396

They stopped selling that particular pan in the US, but I love them. I bought a new one from a European supplier for our house and moved our older and very well used one to the boat. It is a nice fit for the 2 burner stove on the boat.

Just the one here.

The store has a partial set for $35, it's a full set missing one pan and a handle. Tempting, but not enough.

The stove on our boat is a non-gimballed Coleman propane stove. It's similar to their green camp stoves but designed to be mounted, and it is mounted on a wooden shelf which is in turn mounted on the gimble hanger brackets. This leaves plenty of storage for pans and cooking utensils below, which we hold in place with a bar across the front that doubles as a towel rack and paper towel holder.

I have had this set for 7 years or more. Held up great and the lids also act as a strainer. The heating surface is thick and heats evenly...

Do you still have a cutting board above the stove, or that is gone?

We have an Origo 3000 non-pressurized alcohol stove. Very simple, works nicely, has gimbals. I can store thin items between the stove and cutting board, but not thick ones.

JD has a new cutting board over the new Princess stovetop.

I enjoy cooking aboard when we are on the hook or 'foreign' ports and it knarls me when I am limited to a small skillet. We eat well on JD.

For the utensils, I made a pull out draw that fits below the counter top and above the cooler.

Prior to getting the Freezer for the boat, I had a 3 drawer storage unit aft of the galley, but that's gone now. So I'm looking at adding accessible storage to the area where the old cooler was located. Right now we use the old cooler for storing cooking stuff, but it's a pain rambling around inside the thing.

A well fed crew makes for a happy crew, and they don't mind the daily lashings so much
